The photogrammetry process might be impaired by several issues, so it is best to steer clear of:
- over- and underexposure
- reflections of sunlight (they appear as blind spots)
- changing lighting conditions
- snow cover
- water
- blurred pictures due to low motion sharpness
- overlapping objetcs (like plants)
- moving objects (they cannot be processed by the software)
- smooth or reflecting surfaces (like >30% of the object is glass or blank surfaces like steel or other industrial metal)
- similar structures
- too much background in the picture frame
Even if all the rules are applied the recording might be affected by its surroundings. So, here are a couple of troubles to consider, while recording:
- Vegetation is in the front of the object and does not allow a direct visual contact to the object.
- A difficult terrain or obstacles, so the recording possibilities are already limited by the environment.
- Places that are not accessible generally with the camera in hand
- What can be done with those than?
