Before recording an object, it is useful to check some central questions in advance to ensure the proper strategies are applied. Also, it can be useful to plan the recording in advance, for example via sketching the path, so every angle and surface will be recorded properly.

Central Questions

The following questions will be helpful to decide which strategies should be applied on which segments of the object:

  • What is to be recorded? ...............................................Detail vs. total object
  • How is the environment? .............................................Blue sky vs. textured terrain
  • What are the light conditions? ...................................Long shadows or backlighting
  • How do I set the parameters of the camera? .......RAW or JPEG, ISO, shutter speed
  • How is the acessibility of the object? ......................Obstacle, vegetation
  • What resolution? .............................................................Distance to the object
  • What accuracy? ................................................................Type of georeferencin
  • What perspective?............................................................Wide format or high format

Planning the Recording in Advance

Depending on the building different strategies might be necessary for differing segments of the object. For the given example the given strategies might be useful:
